Government award TFI Real Time Application

Getting from A to B in Ireland has become so much simpler thanks to the development of an app that integrates travel across the country. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has released the Real Time Ireland mobile app, which allows users to plan their journey by tram, bus or rail with ease.

The app has recently been named the overall winner at the 2016 eGovernment Awards, a program organised by Marketfinder and the Public Sector Times and sponsored by eir Business.

Alex White TD, the minister for communications, energy and natural resources, presented the award at Dublin Castle and lauded the NTA for its contribution to eGovernment technology within the public sector. The sterling efforts made by central and local government, semi-state organisations and public sectors to drive the eGovernment agenda were all recognised at the awards, with the Real Time Ireland app certainly deserving its place as the overall winner.

Innovative apps on the increase

Apps are being used to make our lives easier and there are a huge number of options for those who travel locally or abroad. You can do everything from planning an overseas itinerary to buying Linbins via an app, with NTA using this technology to its advantage.

The Real Time Ireland app allows users to integrate real-time arrival information from Bus Eireann, DART, Luas, Iarnrod Eireann and Dublin Bus services to plan their journey. This app makes commuting across the country a much more streamlined process and, as the information updates in real time, users are informed of any delays and can plan accordingly.

User-friendly apps

Part of what makes some apps so popular is their user-friendly interface. The Real Time Ireland app recently underwent an update that saw it provide a single user interface emphasising data accuracy and usability.

For many users, being able to instantly understand an app is key. The same could be said when navigating a website; for example, if you are looking for specific storage components you would want to visit a site such as https://www.rackzone.ie/bin-racks, as it is easy to use and the information needed is at your fingertips. Apps are designed in much the same way.

The Real Time Ireland app is available for free download at the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Windows Store.
