Dublin Activities: a refreshing break from the plenary sessions

Dublin is a wonderful place for a holiday, a visit or a conference. It is a very popular holiday destination and also a great venue for conferences, conventions and corporate events. If you’re thinking about organising the latter, it’s worth considering all the things that Dublin has to offer beside the hotels and the event venues themselves.

Getting out and about

It would be a great shame to visit Dublin and not take some time for activities that aren’t usually associated with corporate events. There are a number of activities that event companies in Dublin can organise as part of your conference and convention that can give your attendees a breath of fresh air – literally and figuratively. Good ideas and good moods are both inspired by time outside.

For example, you could take in the beautiful canals around Dublin. You could also walk the Grand Canal Way, a beautiful walk that has the advantage of being nearly entirely flat for those of us who don’t feel up to a mountain hike. You could also take in the canals from a barge tour, cruise through the Kildare countryside and hear stories of the past as you float serenely along.

Go to the beach and the sea

There are other boating activities, and some of them are more strenuous than others. You can waterski or windsurf or even try kayaking on the river or the bay. It is also possible to go kitesurfing in Dublin Bay. If you like the idea of being on the water but don’t want to wear your wetsuit, there are sailing lessons, sailing trips on the bay and boat trips of the surrounding rivers and countryside.

Get back to nature

If you need a break from the squawking of your fellow humans, you can always go and visit the birds instead. There are several beautiful bird sanctuaries that welcome visitors near Dublin.

Davis Events Agency can recommend getting away from the presentations and visiting the many unspoilt natural beauty spots within easy reach of Dublin. For inspiration, you could look at the Visit Dublin site.

Dublin is a vibrant and unique city set in truly astounding countryside. If you’re holding a conference there, you can make it every bit as unique as the city itself.
